Alberto Gomez has been on the Watson Institute team for over 5 years. He drives operational excellence by overseeing Watson Institute’s strategic hiring operations, team expansion, employment compliance, payroll, and benefits. A Marine Corps veteran and former Wildland Firefighter, Alberto brings a passion for mission-driven work and a steady hand to complex systems.

Turning chaos into clarity. Whether I’m building scalable systems from scratch, untangling complex logistics, or navigating fast-moving situations, I thrive when I help teams stay grounded, focused, and move forward with purpose.

I’m working with community leaders to transform a large parking lot behind my house into an urban bird sanctuary. With the community’s help, we’ve planted eight new trees and are creating mini ecosystems at the base of each one to attract pollinators and birds, especially the threatened Baltimore orioles. The vision is to create a peaceful space where people can pause, connect with the outdoors, and feel a sense of escape right in the heart of West Baltimore.

Outside work, I love spending time in nature, whether hiking, running, or walking with my wife and dog. I’m passionate about civic engagement and am often involved in local initiatives supporting neighborhood revitalization and expanding access to fitness opportunities. I also enjoy scaling my short-term rental, where I can blend my entrepreneurial spirit with local storytelling. When it’s time to slow down, you’ll find me sipping a classic iced Americano with a splash of vanilla at the local cafe.
