Mentorship & Ecosystem

The Right Support, at the Right Time

Watson Institute’s mentorship ecosystem is designed to meet you where you are, whether you’re pressure-testing an early idea, navigating a growth challenge, or building the partnerships that will carry your venture forward. Every Fellow receives support matched to their Fellowship theme, venture stage, and specific needs, delivered by practitioners, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem leaders who have done the work themselves.

Your Mentorship Experience

Group Learning & Connection

Braintrusts

Intimate roundtable conversations between 4-6 Fellows and a successful entrepreneur or business executive. Bring real challenges you’re facing directly to the table for honest dialogue and actionable guidance.

Case Study “Fish Bowl” Sessions

A Fellow takes the hot seat and has their venture examined in real time by a practitioner with relevant expertise. The rest of the cohort learns by watching how experienced problem-solvers work through complexity.

Mentor Roundtable

A panel of 3–4 mentors sharing expertise on a topic selected based on the cohort’s needs. Fellows hear directly from multiple practitioners in the same conversation, then bring their own questions to the table for focused, real-time dialogue.

Impact Series

Workshops led by entrepreneurs, practitioners, and sector leaders on specific skills and broader themes, grounded in their own journeys, hard-won lessons, and what actually works in the field.

1-on-1 Mentorship Opportunities

  • Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIR) Dedicated 1:1 time with an entrepreneur who has scaled impact ventures. Your EIR brings strategic perspective and hands-on experience to the challenges specific to your venture, with recurring scheduled sessions built into your program calendar.
  • Preceptors: The practitioners and experts who teach our curriculum are also available for individual advisory sessions, turning what you’re learning into personalized guidance for your specific venture.
  • Program Manager (PM): Consistent touchpoints with your PM throughout the Fellowship. They know your venture, your cohort, and your program, and serve as your primary point of continuity from week one through Summit.
  • Network Introductions: Connections to Watson’s global network of mentors, practitioners, and domain experts based on your specific needs, from technical knowledge to market context to sector relationships.

Beyond Mentorship: The Ecosystem

Your journey doesn’t stop at mentorship. Fellows gain access to a powerful ecosystem of partners, opportunities, and networks designed to accelerate their impact. This includes curated introductions, visibility through key events, and long-term strategic relationships that open doors well beyond the program.
