Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Emma Jackson is a long time community volunteer and activist. Starting from a young age, her battles with mental illness motivated her to find passion and beauty within herself and the environment. She became committed to personal growth and leadership so that she could give her heart and gifts to those in need.
As a volunteer for the Good Life Alliance, she has developed the Living the Good Life Newsletter, which has evolved into an international platform for youth voice, worldwide empowerment, and positive expression featuring inspirational work of young people around the globe. As a Watson scholar, Emma hopes to take the newsletter’s basic concepts of creative transformation of self and community into her own arts and culture platform. She recently graduated with The Ohio State University Class of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and minors in Spanish and Integrative Health and Wellness. Coming away from one of the nation’s largest institutions, Emma is seeking to expand her perspectives and explore diverse types of education through the university of the world. Aside from her community involvements, Emma loves outdoor adventure, music, slacklining, writing, traveling, art, and animals.
