Cheyenne has just graduated Amherst College in December 2013. Throughout her undergraduate career, she enthusiastically participated in science research and completed an honors thesis in physics. In the meantime, her participations in tradeshows and her interactions with businesses in the import/export sector have reinforced her passion for entrepreneurship. She sees the parallels between physics and entrepreneurship and applies the scientific method to discover and solve problems in the lab and in her entrepreneurial endeavors. Furthermore, she believes that clever application of technologies is often the optimal solution to a problem.
Born and raised in Fuzhou, China, Cheyenne moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 14. She has since moved three more times and now lives in Edison, New Jersey. This highly mobile living style has made her a perpetual explorer and a resilient optimist. At Watson, she hopes to expand on her fundamental belief that empathy drives change and to combine her entrepreneurial spirit with her liberal arts and physics background. Knowing the hardships faced by many fledgling businesses in the retail sector through first-hand experiences, she is creating an online platform to connect international producers and consumers more directly and efficiently, which has the potential to reduce entry barriers for small businesses.
